Match the collaboration to your starting point
OEM commonly refers to manufacturing to the buyer's design and requirements, while ODM commonly includes design development by the manufacturer. The agreed scope matters more than the label, since businesses may use these terms differently.
For an existing design, supply views, dimensions, materials and finishing criteria. For a new concept, explain the character, intended use, target price and the development support you need.
Clarify design use
Discuss how character artwork, embroidery files, patterns and developed samples may be used. Any exclusivity should be explicitly agreed. Identify confidential materials and whether finished-product images may be used in a supplier's portfolio.
Connect design with production
Review materials, sewing construction, attachments and repeatability alongside appearance. Discuss budget and timing during development. For international sales, include the destination-market brief and assign responsibility for labels, packaging and quality documents.
Bring your project to Phat Dat
Explain whether you have finished drawings, a physical reference or an initial idea. Add estimated quantities, selling markets and the launch schedule. This allows both sides to discuss an appropriate design and production scope before starting the sample.
